The Tasmanian Government is providing up to a three-year land tax holiday for all newly built housing made available for long-term rental.
Are you a pensioner considering downsizing your home? If so, you could be eligible for a duty discount. The Government is offering a 50% duty discount to eligible pensioners that sell their existing home and downsize to a home or unit at a lower cost of up to $400,000. Please note that this initiative has been extended again, and now has an expiry date of 30 June 2020.
This initiative is to encourage residential property owners to make affordable rental homes available for low-income earners. Owners will receive a financial incentive payment and will also be guaranteed that rent is paid for the term of the lease. Lease terms under this program are 2 years. Properties are managed by an experienced property manager.
The Private Rental Incentives Program is funded under Tasmania’s Affordable Housing Action Plan 2019-2023 ( Action Plan 2) and commences on 1 July 2019.
