Emergency Accommodation

Housing Connect supports clients across Tasmania with emergency housing needs.

The Government has extended funding for emergency support to provide secure, safe accommodation options to those Tasmanians who are homeless or at risk of experiencing homelessness.

The Government has allocated an additional $5 million towards providing immediate actions to reduce homelessness and housing stress across Tasmania

We have worked with service providers to identify a range of good options to increase crisis accommodation as well as enhance and increase support services to work directly with people accessing this support. We are now working to increase the capacity of safe accommodation on these sites.

We are very pleased that Colony 47 and Anglicare have secured further accommodation through our brokerage fund to provide immediate safe accommodation to those Tasmanians in greatest need.

This has seen additional staff for outreach support and capacity to provide a mix of cabins, hotel and motel-style accommodation.

As well as expanding capacity of our existing shelters, the Government continues to implement stage 2 of our Action Plan which sees new crisis shelters including a new Bethlehem House facility in the South of the state and expanded existing shelters such as Magnolia House in Launceston.

Anyone needing urgent housing support should contact Housing Connect on 1800 800 588.
